چکیده

We report the first simultaneous measurement of the broad band X-ray (0.3–150 keV) spectrum of the neutron star xray binary 4U 0614+091. Our data confirm the presence of a hard x-ray tail that can be modeled as thermal Comptonization of lowenergy photons on electrons having a very high temperature, greater than 220 keV, or as a non-thermal powerlaw. We detected a spectral feature that can be interpreted as reprocessing, via Compton reflection, of the direct emission by an optically-thick disk and found a correlation between the photon index of the power-law tail and the fraction of radiation reflected which is similar to the correlation found for black hole candidate x-ray binaries and Seyfert galaxies.

Spitzer Reveals Infrared Optically - Thin Synchrotron Emission from the Compact Jet of the Neutron Star X - Ray Binary 4 U 0614 + 091

Spitzer observations of the neutron star (ultra-compact) X-ray binary (XRB) 4U 0614+091 with the Infrared Array Camera reveal emission of non-thermal origin in the range 3.5-8 µm. The mid-infrared spectrum is well fit by a power law with spectral index of α = −0.57 ± 0.04 (where the flux density is F ν ∝ ν α). Given the ultra-compact nature of the binary system, we exclude the possibility that ...

Discovery of the Spin Frequency of 4U 0614+09 with Swift/BAT

We report the discovery of burst oscillations at 414.7 Hz during a thermonuclear X-ray burst from the low mass X-ray binary (LMXB) 4U 0614+091 with the Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) onboard Swift. In a search of the BAT archive, we found two burst triggers consistent with the position of 4U 0614+091. We searched both bursts for high frequency timing signatures, and found a significant detection a...

We report three RXTE/PCA observations of the low-mass X-ray binary 4U 0614+09. They show strong (∼30% rms) band-limited noise with a cutoff frequency varying between 0.7 and 15 Hz in correlation with the X-ray flux, f x. We observe two non-simultaneous 11–15% (rms) kHz peaks near 728 and 629 Hz in the power spectra of two of our observations when f x ∼10 −9 erg cm −2 s −1 (2–10 keV), but find n...

1 Xmm-newton Results on the Ultracompact Low Mass X–ray Binary 4u 1850-087 in the Globular Cluster Ngc 6712

We report on preliminary results from our XMM-Newton observation of the Low Mass X-ray Binary 4U 1850-087, located in the galactic globular cluster NGC 6712. It is an ultracompact binary system, with an orbital period of 20.6 min. In previous low-resolution X-ray observations 4U 1850-087 displayed a soft excess residual around 0.7 keV, possibly indicative of the presence of a high Ne/O ratio, a...

Anticorrelated Hard/Soft X-ray Emission from the X-Ray Burster 4U 0614+091

We have detected transient X-ray activity from the X-ray burster 4U 0614+091 simultaneously with BATSE/CGRO (20–100 keV) and ASM/RXTE (1–12 keV). The peak fluxes reach approximately 40 mCrab in both instruments over a period of about 20 days. The variable emission shows a clear anticorrelation of the hard X-ray flux with the soft X-ray count rate. The observed anticorrelation is another clear c...
